Servant Leadership Community of Practice

This month’s topic: Leading with Gratitude

Transforming holiday overwhelm into overjoy.

Here they come…the holidays! Thanksgiving, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, St. Nicholas, Christmas, New Years and more! Not only are the holidays a time to spend with those we care about most, the holidays can also be a time when we find too much on already full personal and workplace plates.

The antidote to a full plate is finding moments of reflection, gratitude and genuine connection with others that can transform overwhelm into overjoy.

Research shows that gratitude should not be something done once a year around the Thanksgiving table. Leading with gratitude everyday helps individuals feel happier, have an improved sense of wellbeing, higher self-esteem, have less depression and anxiety, and even sleep better.

Through small group breakout sessions, large group discussion and individual self-reflection, facilitated by Sophia Partners Executive Director and Learning Facilitator, Christa Williams, we will:

  • Explore and find gratitude for all that “we carry”
  • Discuss the research on leading with gratitude
  • Identify and commit to gratitude best-practices

Servant Leadership Community of Practice

This month’s topic: Leading by Building Community

What does community mean to you?

Do you think about geography, like your city or neighborhood? Do you think of the people surrounding you: your family and friends? Did you think of your workplace? Or, maybe you think of society as a whole?

Depending on your lens, community can have one or all these definitions. There is so much research out now about the importance of belonging to and building community. In this session, facilitated by Christa Williams, Sophia Partners Executive Director and Learning Facilitator, we will explore:

  • Community through the lens of servant leadership
  • Workplaces as community
  • Building community – necessity and ‘how to’
