Coffee & Conversation: Community of Practice
September 16, 2022 @ 7:30 am - 8:30 am

This month’s topic: The Motive by Patrick Lencioni
There are only two kinds of leaders. Which kind are you?
Through a story, a learning lesson, and reflection questions, Lencioni’s The Motive challenges people to think about their own motivation to lead. Why become a leader of others in the first place?
Key learning lessons from the book will be the foundation for this month’s small group discussions amongst peers. Attendees will explore:
- Are you a Responsibility-based (servant-leader) or a Reward-Centered Leader? How can you tell?
- The connection between Robert Greenleaf’s definition of servant leadership and Lencioni’s Responsibility-Centered Leader.
- The importance of surrounding yourself with trusted learning partners (who tell you the truth and help you see your blindspots).
- The 5 differentiators of leadership are: 1) Developing a team, 2) Managing Others, 3) Having Uncomfortable Conversations, 4) Running Great Team Meetings, and 5) Communicating with Others.
This session will be facilitated by Sophia Partners Executive Director and Learning Facilitator, Christa Williams.
Registration is required for the Zoom link. Registration is open now here!
*You do not need to read the book to attend this session. The session will be recorded.
About this Conversation
Coffee & Conversation is a platform for learning about your individual servant leadership strengths and learning new practices through small group discussions, facilitated conversations, and personal reflection. This event happens on the third Friday of each month from 7:30 – 8:30 a.m. CST via Zoom.
Program Overview
Community of Practice sessions are amazing opportunities for any and all area leaders to gather and learn from each other. Through these monthly sessions, attendees build, share, and learn from others as a community of servant leaders. It’s highly interactive and each month a different servant leadership topic is explored. The same topic is covered during both sessions monthly (Coffee & Conversation and Leaders Do Lunch). Learn more about the Community of Practice program here.
