SUMMARY:Coffee & Conversation: Community of Practice
DESCRIPTION:Leadership: A Commitment to Human Beings\nAre you willing to run headfirst into danger and risk the unknown for someone else?  Are you willing to put aside your own interests for the sake of a greater shared vision?  Are you willing to work tirelessly to see the aspirations of others reached?  Are you willing to act in ways that others will proudly follow?   \nIn this month’s Community of Practice we will discuss one of Simon Sinek’s books; “Leaders Eat Last.” Sinek says if you can humbly and authentically answer yes to the questions above\, then you are a leader.  In this book he shares story after story of people who make intentional decisions to lead in ways that put the needs of others as the highest priority – a core tenet of servant leadership.   \nThrough learning lessons from the book facilitated by Sophia Partners Executive Director and Learning Facilitator\, Christa Williams\, and small group discussion with peers\, attendees will explore key learning lessons from “Leaders Eat Last” by Simon Sinek: \n\nBuilding a Circle of Safety:  What is it?  How to build one?  Why it is important to personal and team leadership.\nLeadership:  An awesome responsibility.  \nTrust versus Performance:  What is more important?\n\nAbout this Conversation \nCoffee & Conversation is a platform for learning about your individual servant leadership strengths and learning new practices through small group discussion\, facilitated conversations\, and personal reflection. This event happens on the third Friday of each month from 7:30 – 8:30 a.m. CST  via Zoom. \nRegistration is required for the Zoom link. Registration is open now here! \nProgram Overview \nCommunity of Practice sessions are amazing opportunities for any and all area leaders to gather and learn from each other. Through these monthly sessions\, attendees build\, share\, and learn from others as a community of servant leaders. It’s highly interactive and each month a different servant leadership topic is explored. The same topic is covered during both sessions monthly (Coffee & Conversation and Leaders Do Lunch). SUMMARY:Coffee & Conversation: Community of Practice
DESCRIPTION:This month’s topic:  It’s Not About the Coffee \nIn his book “It’s Not About the Coffee: Leadership Principles from a Life at Starbucks\,” Former President of Starbucks International Howard Behar shares ten principles that have guided his leadership. \nIn this session\, Christa Williams\, Executive Director and Learning Facilitator will kick off the 2022 servant leadership community of practice series by sharing a summary of one of the books that truly informed her own leadership journey.  In this book\, Howard Behar advocates for personal leadership and putting others first as the foundation for “real” leadership.   \nIn small group discussions and reflective exercises\, we will discern how to apply the 10 leadership lessons defined by Behar\, personally and professionally.   \n*You do not need to read the book to attend this session.    The session will be recorded. \nRegistration is required for the Zoom link and encouraged for those attending in person. Registration is open now here! \nProgram Overview \nCommunity of Practice sessions are amazing opportunities for any and all area leaders to gather and learn from each other.
