SUMMARY:Community of Practice: Leaders Do Lunch
DESCRIPTION:Creating a Mentorship Program \nMentors\, Coaches and Learning Partners; what’s the difference? \nNot only is mentoring essential to ensuring organizational and leadership sustainability\, it is a fundamental servant leadership practice; the growth and well-being of others. This month’s session will feature a conversation with Curtiss Peck\, Principal Consultant at ASI Consulting Group & Learning Facilitator for R.A.C.E. Suicide Prevention.  Curtiss will discuss the importance of creating a mentoring pipeline based on his experiences in corporate cultures\, including Northwestern Mutual and Harley Davidson.  He will focus on how to ‘operationalize’ a formal mentoring program.  We will explore together how mentoring is the same and different from the need for ‘learning partners’ and ‘coaches.’    \nChrista Williams\, Executive Director of Sophia Transformative Leadership Partners\, will facilitate this session in partnership with Curtiss Peck.   \nRegister to attend:  March 23

SUMMARY:Community of Practice: Leaders Do Lunch
DESCRIPTION:Tashi Deley\nhonoring the greatness in others as a servant leadership practice\nWhen people in Tibet greet one another\, instead of saying “Hello”\, they press the palms of their hands together and say\, “Tashi Deley” – which means\, “I Honor the Greatness in You.” \nAttendees of this community of practice session will learn about ‘tashi deley’ and its connection to servant leadership through an interview with Rebecca Braden\, author of the book “Sanjaygawa and the Yak Whisperer.”  The book is a story of hope for “Young Ones of All Ages.” Through Rebecca’s remarks and in small group conversations\, attendees will learn and explore the importance of “Honoring the Greatness in Yourself and Others” as a servant leadership practice.   \nAbout Rebecca Braden:  For over 27 years\, Rebecca has been coaching and developing leaders\, predominantly in the tech sector\, on every continent except Antarctica. Rebecca’s passion is Servant Leadership\, a way of leading that presumes the only reason for a leader to exist is to serve those he/she is privileged to lead and help them reach their fullest potential. Her work centers on helping develop conscious leaders who are able to set the performance bar high while keeping people whole and organizations humane – primarily in the context of highly competitive corporate environments.  \nThis month’s dialogue featuring Rebecca Braden is being hosted in support of the Children’s Museum of Fond du Lac Tashi Deley initiative for children and their families in the greater Fond du Lac community. *this session will be taped. \nRegister to attend: February 23

SUMMARY:Community of Practice: Leaders Do Lunch
DESCRIPTION:Servant Leadership for 2021 – Thought leaders\, resources\, & recommendations\nThere isn’t one way to ‘be’ a servant-leader.  And\, Robert K Greenleaf is not the only one who ever wrote about servant leadership.  Some authors have narrowed servant leadership down to seven concepts\, some have ten principles\, others say it is only one core philosophy.  In this session we will discuss thought leaders\, authors\, resources and recommendations in addition to Greenleaf that can support your learning and practice of servant leadership.  Attendees should plan on bringing their own “best of” leadership thought leaders\, authors and resources to share with their peers.       \n  \nThis month’s dialogue will be facilitated by Christa Williams\, Executive Director of Sophia Transformative Leadership Partners. \n  \nRegister to attend: January 26

SUMMARY:Community of Practice: Leaders Do Lunch
DESCRIPTION:Being the Servant-Leader You Want to Be\nThis session will focus on inspiration and practical application of the leadership lessons featured in the book Wisdom From The Woods\, co-authored by Sophia foundress\, Virginia (Ginny) Gilmore.   Note: reading the book is helpful but not required to attend this session.    \nThere are so many leadership mis-conceptions about spending time in thoughtful reflection.  Yet\, research shows that people who intentionally reflect\, just 15 minutes per day\, are 20-25% more productive\, happier\, and less burned out than people who do not.   So\, why don’t more people do it?  The number one reason that people say\, “they don’t know how to do it.” \nWith the help of Ginny Gilmore and Jenny Knuth\, current-Sophia board president\, you will not only learn from Ginny’s story from more than 25 years ago (from the woods in Door County)\, you will also “try-on” and “practice” reflective leadership as a way of improving your own servant leadership abilities.  Learn more about Ginny. \nRegister to attend:  November 24 \nVisit the Wisdom from the Woods website to learn more or purchase the book.
